Biography
I’m the Laboratory Manager for Histopathology at the University of Glasgow’s Veterinary Diagnostic Services (VDS) and the Histology Research Service (HRS). With over a decade of experience in veterinary histology, I act as the technical lead for both our routine clinical diagnostics and advanced molecular pathology.
My core passion is driving technical innovation to support your multidisciplinary research. I specialise in advanced tissue processing, complex Immunohistochemistry (IHC) method optimisation, Immunofluorescence (IF), and In-Situ Hybridisation (ISH) for novel veterinary targets. Recently, I’ve also spearheaded our department’s transition into modern digital pathology, setting up high-throughput whole-slide imaging workflows to make data sharing and analysis seamless for our users.
I hold a BSc (Hons) in Applied Biomedical Science, am a Registered Scientist (RSci) with the Science Council, and a Licentiate of the IBMS. Uniquely, my early-career background in electronics manufacturing gives me a deep mechanical understanding of our complex automated laboratory platforms—meaning I can expertly troubleshoot and optimise our hardware to keep your projects running smoothly, cost-effectively, and on time.
Beyond the bench, I ensure our department maintains the highest standard of diagnostic compliance as an active VETQAS assessor, and I keep our team safe as the designated Fire Safety Coordinator.
Whether you need routine clinical diagnostics or support designing a complex research workflow, I'm always happy to chat about how we can bring your projects to life. Let’s collaborate!
