Species-Habitat Associations

What shapes the distributions of species in space? How do we measure habitat availability? What are the limitations to resource accessibility and how does human infrastructure contribute to such fragmentation? What motivates the relocation decisions of animals from their minute-to-minute foraging, to their interannual intercontinental migrations? What drives and limits the ranges of plants? How does climate change, landcover change and urbanization alter the biodiversity and resilience of ecosystems? How does habitat determine the viability of populations and how do we quantify the realised and fundamental niches of species empirically?  How do patterns of animal movement vary with age and experience?
