The W M Mann Foundation and Jakarta Setiabudi Internasional Tbk Postgraduate Masters Scholarship

The W M Mann Foundation have partnered with Jakarta Setiabudi Internasional Tbk (JSI), a leading Indonesian investor in the country’s hospitality and tourism sectors, to introduce The W M Mann Foundation and Jakarta Setiabudi Internasional Tbk Postgraduate Masters Scholarship, which will provide funding for a scholarship for one Indonesian Masters student to come study in Scotland. Alongside a full fee waiver and accommodation for the student, JSI will provide a work experience opportunity and mentoring programme. Eligibility creitera is:

• The applicant must hold an offer of a place for the MSc Management and Sustainable Tourism or MSc Sustainable Tourism and Global Challenges for September 2027 intake.
• They must have international fee status.
• The candidate must not already hold a non-Indonesian degree.
• The applicant must demonstrate a clear track record of contribution to their local community, a clear ambition to further Indonesian and Scottish cultural and/or commercial links, and an awareness of the benefits and opportunities that the scholarship can offer. This will be established through a personal statement on the application form.

University of Glasgow is committed to support as many self-funded students as possible which is why UofG discounts and scholarships cannot be combined with one another or any external sponsorship discounts (with the exception of Alumni Discount).

JSI Internship in Indonesia:

A typical internship at JSI is 6-8 weeks. The internship will have two main areas of focus. Firstly, allow the student to the part JSI’s network that is relevant to their study area (in this case, exposure to hotels and operators to learn and better understand their commitments to sustainable tourism). Secondly, the student conduct a project (research or otherwise) in the area of sustainable tourism, customized to JSI’s current hotel portfolio and/or future hospitality investments.

Prior to the internship, a commitment to engage in a conversation with JSI to establish a relevant internship program based on knowledge acquired during the Master program. During the internship, a commitment to execute the agreed internship program with enthusiasm and professionalism.

The expectations is that the student to be in Jakarta for most of their internship. The internship will take place after the year of study in Scotland.There is no expectation that the scholar will need to move somewhere specific after their year of study. Depending on the internship program, they may need to travel domestically to tourist areas/JSI’s hotel portfolio locations.
