MSc Digital Society Tuition Fee Waiver

Description

Two full tuition waiver scholarships are available to support highly motivated and accomplished students joining the Digital Society MSc for the 2021-22 academic year.

Applicants must:

  • hold a conditional or unconditional offer of a place for the MSc Digital Society full-time postgraduate taught programme for September 2021
  • demonstrate academic excellence in a relevant field (sociology and other social sciences, digital sociology, digital media and culture).

How to apply

Please apply using the University of Glasgow’s online application system and upload a 500 word personal statement to your programme application.

Your personal statement must include:

  • your full name, applicant number and clearly state that you are applying for the MSc Digital Society Tuition Fee Waiver
  • why you have selected the programme at the University of Glasgow
  • why you merit the funded place (e.g. academic/personal achievement)
  • how you will benefit from it (e.g. employment prospects, financial relief, etc).

If you have already submitted your programme application, you can still apply for the MSc Digital Society Tuition Fee Waiver by uploading your personal statement by accessing Applicant Self-Service.

All candidates holding an offer (conditional or unconditional) for the above programme and submitted a personal statement by 15 May 2021 will be considered. Successful candidates will be advised of the outcome by 30 June 2021.

Assessment criteria

Assessment will be based on the quality of the application and the below criteria

  • a documented background in the social sciences, especially sociology, political economy, cultural studies, media studies, gender studies, human geography, psychology
  • a high academic achievement in the course of previous studies.
  • a well-articulated interest in processes of digitalisation and how they impact different areas of society. A background in studying or working practically with digital technology from a social science perspective constitutes an advantage. 

Scholarships will be awarded competitively.
