Steveen's research focuses on rethinking Haitian Vodou: everyday religiosity, modernity, transnationalism and decolonisation.

Steveen is a researcher with an interest in Haitian Vodou, Haitian modernity, Haitian Vodou in transnational spaces, and the wider modernity discourse in relation to Haitian Vodou. Haitian Vodou is often only explored through religious lenses, overlooking its layered complexities which influence Haitian various aspects of Haitian culture.

For the next few years at the University of Glasgow, my research will focus on rethinking Haitian Vodou: everyday religiosity, modernity, transnationalism and decolonisation, to highlight Vodou's role in the anti-colonial struggle and a global call to decolonise knowledge.
