Pheona’s PhD explores and generates evidence surrounding workplace action against racism and the ways in which it is understood and applied to bring about desired change.

Pheona is the co-founder of the award-winning social enterprise Radiant and Brighter, a leading voice on Ethnic Diversity and Inclusion in Scotland. Radiant and Brighter work with organisations and their leadership across Scotland, to reflect and review their systems, structures and policies. The organisation has developed diversity training, inclusion, antiracism and intercultural competence programs working with public, private and third sector organisations.

Pheona is also a board member for the productivity institute, a common purpose associate director and a Women’s Enterprise Scotland ambassador, a role which includes promoting the recognition and inclusivity of the entrepreneurship skills and talent within Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities.

Pheona’s PhD will explore and generate evidence surrounding workplace action against racism and the ways in which it is understood and applied to bring about desired change. In particular, the research will consider some of the current and contextually specific challenges to systematic racism in Scotland and ways forward in transforming endemic and embedded racial inequality.
