Owolona will embark on an Economic, Social and Governance (ESG) Assessment of the NHS’s ‘Delivering a Net Zero National Health Service’ Intervention within the School of Life Sciences.
Owolona Ogbe’s research is situated at the intersection of public health, health economics, and environmental sustainability, with a particular focus on the emerging field of planetary health. Owolona’s doctoral work contributes to understanding how healthcare systems can equitably transition towards net zero, through evaluating the systemic impacts of lifestyle-based interventions such as active travel and dietary change. Her academic interests include one-health economics, health equity, and the co-benefits of climate action within healthcare settings.
Owolona’s doctoral research forms part of a broader effort to evaluate the feasibility and impact of achieving a net zero National Health Service.
By foregrounding health inequalities and systems-level responsibilities, this research aims to strengthen the evidence base around the co-benefits of sustainable healthcare. It will inform global strategies in planetary health and inspire actionable pathways for climate-responsive health policy.
