Christopher is investigating the racial genealogies of finance capitalism in the early modern British Atlantic from 1660s-1820s.
Christopher’s research examines the role of the colonial racial state in the development of finance capitalism in the early modern British Atlantic. His aim is to reorient the historiography of the British financial industry so as to make Black rebellion and the response to it integral to scholarly work in the field.
