Rachel’s research focuses on the menstrual cycle and exercise, addressing the research data gap for females and investigating exercise performance across the menstrual cycle.

Rachel is starting her research looking at the validity and reliability of Speed - tolerance tests and Critical Velocity. She hopes to expand on the work of previous authors to include female participants in this study and therefore explore the menstrual cycle as a variable in exercise testing.

Rachel hopes to follow this on by looking at female participants specifically, investigating several exercise performance markers across four phases of the menstrual cycle which so far has not yet been done.

In a growing but heavily underrepresented research field, Rachel hopes that her work will add to decrease the disparity and imbalance of studies done on females (compared to males) to ensure that findings and research developments made are more specific and applicable to the female physiology.
