MacPhail Roxburgh Law Scholarship

The University of Glasgow is pleased to be offering the MacPhail Roxburgh Law Scholarship to support a Home Fee student who could face financial difficulties in taking up their place to study at the University.

Applications are particularly welcomed from applicants who met any of our widening participation criteria, or equivalent, at undergraduate level.

The value of the scholarship is a full tuition fee waiver for the PgDip in Professional Legal Practice programme.

The University of Glasgow is committed to support as many self-funded students as possible which is why UofG discounts and scholarships cannot be combined with one another or any external sponsorship discounts (with the exception of Alumni Discount). This scholarship cannot be awarded in conjunction with the Glasgow (UK) Excellence Award or the Postgraduate Access Scholarship. To be eligible applicants must

  • Hold an offer for the  Postgraduate Diploma (PgDip) in Professional Legal Practice in September 2026. Applicants may apply whether studying full‑time or part‑time; the number of scholarships awarded will vary depending on the mode of study.
  • Provide evidence of excellent academic achievement in their undergraduate studies (Normally 2:1 degree classification, or above).
  • Be classified as Home for fee purposes.
  • Provide evidence that their circumstances are such that they may find it difficult to take up a place at the University for financial or other reasons.

Value

1 full tuition fee waiver for the PgDip in Professional Legal Practice programme (£11,943). The amount cannot be exchanged for a cash stipend and will only be used to waive the fee of the programme.

Applications for this scholarship are open now. Applications for this scholarship will close on the 25th of May and the notification date for this scholarship is the 18th of June.
