Multi University Research Initiative (MURI) 2019 focused on Visual Common-Sense.

On the 2nd of September 2019, the Institute of Neuroscience & Psychology welcomed researchers from across the UK and the USA to Edinburgh for the 2019 conference of the EPSRC/MoD Multi University Research Initiative (MURI), focussed on Visual Common-Sense. 

The purpose of the MURI is to bring together groups working on a wide range of topics in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Vision, Cognitive Science and Neuroscience, in order to explore the how those fields can cooperate to further the state of the art in automatic scene processing and understanding.

Professor Philippe G. Schyns (pictured above), Director of Institute of Neuroscience & Psychology, Head of the School of Psychology, and PI of the Glasgow grant praised the event:

"This year was a great success, seeing researchers and PhD students from seven US and four UK universities meeting for four days of presentations, discussions, and socialising. There was also time for a bit of sightseeing, including an outing to Edinburgh Castle".
