Emergency Procedures

In an emergency at Gilmorehill campus please call 4444. This provides a direct line to University Security at the gatehouse.

Please provide the following information:

  • Where you are (specify building, room number)
  • What has happened and is there additional danger (either from a person, or a fire, from contamination of some kind etc.)
  • If someone is injured, what is their approximate age, what is the nature of their injury, the severity of the injury, and are they conscious and breathing?

Most University phones redirect 999 calls to University Security. This allows security to attend immediately if there is still danger and, as they are alerted to the need for emergency services, they can provide directions and assistance to the emergency services when they arrive. There have been instances in the past of ambulances getting lost trying to find buildings.

We understand that every circumstance is different and you may be presented with a situation where you need to dial 999 immediately. If this is the case, please let Security know you have done so at the earliest opportunity.
