Our mission is to enhance human health by exploring causes and mechanisms of cardiovascular disease and advancing and implementing discoveries leading to improved prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
The Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences (ICAMS) is a research-intensive institute in the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life science at the University of Glasgow. ICAMS is also home to a British Heart Foundation Centre of Research Excellence that focuses on vascular science and biomedicine.
The Athena SWAN (Scientific Women's Academic Network) Charter recognises commitment to advancing women's careers in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) employment in academia. The Institute of Cardiovascular and Medical Sciences was awarded an Athena SWAN Bronze award in the November 2015 round.
