Biography

Dr Julie Langan Martin is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Psychiatry and the Programme Director of both the on-campus and online distance learning (ODL) Masters in Global Mental Health. She is the Post Graduate Teaching (PGT) Convenor within IHW and is Co-Director of the GATE with Dr Terry Quinn.

Dr Julie Langan Martin graduated MBChB (Honours) in 2007 from the University of Glasgow. She is a member of both the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and the Royal College of Psychiatrists. She completed a clinical research training fellowship in Glasgow alongside a Masters of Education (MD, Glasgow 2016 and MEd (Merit) Glasgow, 2016).

Supervision

Dr Langan Martin welcomes enquiries about projects in the area of psychiatric epidemiology and global mental health. 

Teaching

Dr Langan Martin is the Programme Director of both the  and  Masters in Global Mental Health. She coordinates the following modules:

  • Themes in Global Mental Health, and
  • Cultural, Social and Biological Determinants of Mental Health.

Dr Langan Martin is co-lead educator of the Micro-Credential: Impact of Trauma on Mental Health and co-lead educator of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC): Understanding Suicide and Suicide Prevention Strategies in a Global Context with Dr Laura Sharp. She is also an educator on the MOOCs: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder in the Global Context and Mindfulness: A focus on adolescents.

Dr Langan Martin also teaches on the Undergraduate Medical Curriculum and the Global Health MSc.
