Biography

Heather is a Research Associate in the Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment (HEHTA) research group within the School of Health and Wellbeing. Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Heather completed her MSc Epidemiology in the field of Implementation Science at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Prior to taking up her role at the University of Glasgow, Heather spent three years working on economic evaluations at the SA MRC/Centre for Health Economics and Decision Science – PRICELESS SA, based in the Wits School of Public Health. Her current projects focus on economic evaluations alongside clinical trials.

Research interests

Heather's work focuses on economic evaluations of healthcare interventions. This involves a range of methods, including decision-analytic modelling, conceptual modelling, regression and survival analysis.  

Her current projects include:

  • Economic evaluation alongside a clinical trial of an intervention to reduce symptoms of Long COVID: The ReDIRECT Study
  • Economic evaluation alongside a clinical trial of cardiac rehabilitation for patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction: The REACH-HFpEF Study
  • Early economic modelling of devices using quantum technology to remotely monitor health: QUEST Project
