How to get to Cosmo2020-Scotland
Getting to the Workshop:
The workshop takes place at the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation 7th-9th June 2022. Prior to the main programme, there will be a tour of the Scottish Universities Environmental Research Centre in East Kilbride (near Glasgow) on the 6th June. Finally, there will be a field trip on the 10th June, with optional drop offs in Glasgow and Edinburgh on the way back.
Air Travel
Edinburgh:
Edinburgh International Airport is 12 km west of the City. Edinburgh International Airport receives daily flights from more than 20 UK and 40 European airports, as well as daily transatlantic flights. Flights from international destinations are also scheduled throughout the week.
Getting to the city from the airport is easy thanks to regular tram and bus services to Princes St. and St. Andrew Square Bus Station. You can also take a taxi.

Glasgow:
Glasgow International Airport
Glasgow International Airport is 12 km south-west of the City. Direct flight connections to all major European hubs, plus North America and the Middle East.
The Glasgow Airport Express bus service connects the City Centre (Buchanan Street Bus Station) and Glasgow airport. There are regular bus services between Buchanan Street Bus Station (Glasgow) and St. Andrew Square Bus Station (Edinburgh). Taxi fare from the airport to the Glasgow City Centre costs approximately £21.
Glasgow Prestwick Airport is 50 km southwest of the City which has some connection to mostly Mediterranean destinations carried by Ryanair. There is a dedicated rail station connecting to Glasgow City Centre in around 45 minutes.
Coach
Buchanan St. Bus station and St. Andrew Square Bus Station are the main terminus for long distance coaches to/from/between Glasgow and Edinburgh respectively. They both have links to other major cities in England and Scotland. Timetables at www.travelinescotland.com
Train
Glasgow and Edinburgh are linked to all major UK cities. Both have frequent services to London (4 hours) and to each other (50 minutes). In Glasgow there are two city centre termini, Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen St. In Edinburgh there are two city-centre stations, Edinburgh Haymarket in the West End, and Edinburgh Waverley in the centre. Trains from Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh Waverley depart every 15 minutes. Timetables at www.travelinescotland.com
By Car
Travel times by road are less than you might think. From the south: Birmingham is about 5 hours away; Manchester and York, 3 hours; Newcastle, 2 hours. From the north: Inverness is about 3 hours away; Aberdeen, 2 hours. An extensive road network links Edinburgh to the rest of Scotland and UK making access to the capital easy by car.
Car parking in the areas around the University of Edinburgh can be difficult. On campus parking is limited to permit holders. There are various pay & display parking spaces around the old town but spaces are limited. You may want to consider using the city’s Park & Ride schemes.

Getting to SUERC
There are regular trains from Glasgow Central to East Kilbride, and SUERC is a 20 minute walk from the station or a short bus or taxi ride. There are also regular bus services between Glasgow City Centre and East Kilbride Bus Station. The journey between East Kilbride and Edinburgh by car takes approximately an hour.
