SOLSPACE team inspires future engineers at Glasgow Science Festival

The team showcased models that allowed children to see how solar energy is converted into electricity
Researchers from the SOLSPACE team of the University of Glasgow, including Prof. Colin McInnes, Dr. Litesh Sulbhewar, Dr. Iain Moore, Dr. Vaibhav Anuse, Dr. Khaldon Al-Areqi, and Dr. Robert Gordon, participated in the Glasgow Science Festival 2026 to engage the public with cutting edge space engineering research. Led by Dr. Anuse, the team showcased a scaled model of an orbiting solar reflector, a truss structure model, and a small photovoltaic panel demonstration that allowed children to see how solar energy is converted into electricity. Through hands-on activities, including K'NEX construction challenges, the team interacted with a diverse audience of families and school pupils, helping them explore concepts in renewable energy, structural engineering, and space technology in a fun and accessible way. The event provided an excellent opportunity to share the research with public while inspiring curiosity and enthusiasm for STEM.
