Scottish Alliance for Food

Ben McCormick

Through an interest in the ecology of diseases, Ben started modelling disease distributions, then spent more than a decade studying childhood growth and development in malnourished low- and middle-income populations. Continuing an interest in complex systems and evidence-informed policy making, his research now focuses on the resilience of the Scottish food system to produce the nutrients required for population health.

Through leadership within the ECN, he aims to build lasting relationships, draw on diverse expert perspectives within the SCAF network, and help shape the direction of future food research.

SCAF has been instrumental in connecting me with food researchers in Scotland. Crucially, it connects people from disparate disciplines and interests. Casual conversations have expanded my research horizons and opened new and exciting avenues of work.
