The Centre for Public Policy hosted an expert panel event at the Scottish Parliament’s 2026 Festival of Politics, focused on Brexit and the ten years since the vote to leave the European Union in 2016.

Professors Nicola McEwen, Sir Anton Muscatelli, Katy Hayward and Anand Menon discussed where the UK and Scotland stand in its relationship with the European Union, and what the risks and opportunities are in terms of politics, policy, the economy, and security.

Director of the Centre for Public Policy, Professor Nicola McEwen, also spoke on a panel focused on devolution.

With the devolved nationalist governments of Wales and Scotland elected this May, the panel looks at how successful devolution has been across the four nations.

They discuss whether hopes and aspirations have been realised, what challenges lie ahead for the UK government’s relationships with all the devolved governments, and what are the opportunities for the ‘devolution revolution’.
