Dr Ian C. Elliott, Senior Lecturer at the Centre for Public Policy attended the Scottish Parliament’s Finance and Public Administration Committee on Tuesday 17 February, to give evidence on public administration legacy issues.
Throughout the session, Dr Elliott emphasised the importance of having a committee that combines finance and public administration, and the value of the National Performance Framework as a strategic vision for Scotland, while aligning resources to that vision.
Ian also highlighted the importance of public administration in protecting the democratic institutions that underpin our system of government, institutions we see as under significant threat across the world. He emphasised the how essential it is to have a skilled and professional workforce in place to enable this.
Sarah Davidson, Chief Executive of Carnegie UK and Centre for Public Policy Honorary Professor also gave evidence at the session.
Other expert contributors were Alison Payne, Research Director at Enlighten and Professor Paul Cairney, Professor of Politics and Public Policy at the University of Stirling.
