David Sonnewald
David is Senior Research Officer at the Centre for Microsimulation and Policy Analysis (CeMPA), University of Essex, which he joined in July 2025. He is currently finishing his PhD in Economics at UCLouvain, Belgium, while he completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies at Bocconi University, Milan (BSc in Economics and Social Sciences, MSc in Economics and Management of Government and International Organizations). In the fall of 2023/24, he visited the Department of Applied Economics at HEC Montréal.
David's research is at the intersection of public and labour economics, with a focus on taxation, microsimulation modelling, and income inequalities. As personal interests, he is also fond of behavioural economics, economic history, and football economics.
