Further Information

Conference Venue

The conference takes place in the town of Rethymno, Crete. See map and information about Rethymno.

How do I get to Crete? There are two airports on Crete: Heraklion and Chania. They are roughly equidistant from Rethymno, about and hour's drive. You might want to check for charter flights as well as scheduled flights for cheap fares. Easyjet fly from Manchester and London Gatwick to Heraklion. Crete Travel have excellent information on flights. Ferries sail from Athens Port, Pireas, daily to Rethymno. Crete Travel have timetables.

How do I get to Rethymno? You can take a taxi which will cost 50- 60 Euros. Make sure to negotiate the price before you set off. Alternatively, you can catch a bus or a taxi from Heraklion airport into Heraklion bus station, or Chania airport into Chania bus station, and then catch a bus from there to Rethymno. The bus will cost around 5 Euros and will take an hour and a half. There should be buses every half hour until 8.30pm. But check the timetable and heed the advice here. Another option is to hire a car. This should cost around 50-60 Euros a day, but you may be able to negotiate a cheaper deal. Finally, if you arrange your trip through a travel agent or on a charter flight you may be able to arrange a transfer to your hotel through them very cheaply.

The conference will take place in the Hotel Xenia, 16 Sofokli Venizelou Street, Rethymno. It is marked on this map showing conference hotel and is also available in pdf format.

On the Sunday, the conference will be held a few kilometres away at the Univesrity of Crete campus in Rethymno - details of how to get there will be available at the conference.
