Princess Dashkova Russian Centre, University of Edinburgh
Friday 5th October, 2012

This interdisciplinary conference will examine ideological production in Russian language and culture through the multiple tools of inclusion and exclusion. By bringing together scholars from diverse backgrounds within the broad field of Russian studies, we hope to take advantage of different disciplinary perspectives on practices of inclusion and exclusion. Postgraduate speakers from around the UK will discuss the mechanisms and effects of inclusion and exclusion in linguistic production and in cultural production, The creation of in- and out-groups in memory studies and history is another major focus.

The keynote speech will be delivered by Professor Stephen Hutchings, University of Manchester. Selected papers will be published in an edited collection.
