About CRCEES
CRCEES is an inter-institutional Centre of Excellence in Russian, Central and East European Language-Based Area Studies. We are a consortium of UK universities led by the University of Glasgow and composed of the Universities of: Aberdeen, Durham, Edinburgh, Newcastle, Nottingham, St. Andrews and Strathclyde. We also have a range of renowned international partner universities.
Established in 2006, the Centre for Russian, Central and East European Studies (CRCEES) was previously funded by UK’s Arts and Humanities Research Council; Economic and Social Research Council; the British Academy; the Scottish Funding Council; and the Higher Education Funding Council for England. CRCEES is led by staff in Central & East European Studies, School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Glasgow.
CRCEES supports activities which demonstrate the impact and strategic importance of research in language based area studies, particularly in terms of building capacity and supporting knowledge exchange in the non-academic sector.
