Abstract
ArchaeoCamp: Archaeology for Place-Based Learning is an interdisciplinary project that explores how place-based and locally situated learning supports young people's sense of belonging, identity development, and connection to place. Developed through collaboration between the Schools of Education and Humanities at the University of Glasgow, the project works with primary-aged learners, including children from Armed Forces families, to investigate the archaeology, heritage, and histories of their local communities through creative, inquiry-based approaches that promote critical thinking, interpretive skills, collaborative learning, and the development of transferable metaskills. Aligned with the work of the Centre for Transformative Change in Schools (CenTCS), the project examines how engagement with local heritage fosters agency, belonging, identity, and social cohesion through transformative educational experiences.
