Published: 1 October 2026
From October 2026, Professor Brianna L. Kennedy continues as Director of the Centre for Transformative Change in Schools (CenTCS), leading the Centre into its next phase of research, partnership and engagement in pursuit of more equitable and transformative schooling.
The Centre for Transformative Change in Schools (CenTCS) at the University of Glasgow is pleased to announce a change in its directorship. From October 2026, Professor Brianna L. Kennedy continues as Director of CenTCS, following the period of Joint Directorship with Professor Aileen Kennedy since the Centre’s relaunch in August 2024.
The transition marks a new phase in the development of CenTCS while reaffirming the Centre’s longstanding commitment to understanding and supporting transformative change in schools and school systems.
Based within the University of Glasgow’s School of Education, CenTCS is dedicated to creating and sustaining schools and school systems that make life better for everyone, with particular attention to children and young people in communities that have historically been underserved.
As Professor Kennedy begins this next phase of the Centre’s directorship, CenTCS will continue to foster a nurturing environment for academic growth within the Centre and the wider School of Education; develop national and international networks for knowledge generation and exchange; build and research sustainable partnerships; and strengthen its contribution to scholarship on transformative change in schools, with particular attention to teachers, teaching and the contexts in which they work.
Looking ahead, CenTCS will continue to bring together researchers, educators, schools, communities and partners around a shared commitment to more equitable and socially just education. Colleagues across the education community are warmly invited to engage with the Centre’s work and explore future opportunities for collaboration.
