Seminar by Lovisa Sundin: Finalising the Experimental Design to Investigate whether Graphics Help People with Data Wrangling

Published: 21 September 2020

Lovisa describes a planned experiment on the use of graphics in teaching data manipulation, soliciting feedback from attending CCSE members.

DATE: 21st September 2020
TIME: 13:00-14:00
LOCATION: Quintin’s Zoom Room
DESCRIPTION:

I am about to embark on a capstone study meant to answer my central research question: what are the educational benefits of graphical subgoals in data wrangling tasks? I am hoping to get a “reality check” and have some critical eyes look at my experimental apparatus, and invite discussion on how to make the best use of it: how to recruit as many participants as possible, how to use it to answer adjacent research questions (perhaps related to your field). I have attached a summary of my study and look forward to provide a short demo on Monday as food for thought. See you then!
