Dr Tara Jonell

Tara's research draws across earth science, historical geography and environmental history to investigate the impacts of environmental change on waterways and populations. As part of her ongoing work and this Leverhulme Project, she examines how societies react and adapt to climate extremes in rivers, like floods and droughts. Her work brings together geological, historical, and geospatial data to understand flood and drought dynamics. This interdisciplinary approach helps clarify how environments and societies co-developed in the past and offers insight on their resilience to current and future hydroclimatic challenges.
