Roger Bio

Roger is a Professor of Education and Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. A former teacher and principal, his career focus as an academic has been in the areas of inclusive education and talent development. His recent research has focused on the lives of eminent adults to better understand how talent develops across the lifespan. He is Patron of the New Zealand Association of Gifted Children, editor of Gifted and Talented: New Zealand Perspectives, has served on the editorial boards on numerous national and international journals and in 2000 he chaired the New Zealand Government Working Party on Gifted Education.  In 2005 he was awarded the Prime Minister's Supreme Award for Tertiary Teaching Excellence and in 2014 he was the recipient of Te Manu Kotuku Award in recognition service and contribution to the education and development of the gifted and talented children and young people of New Zealand.
