Applications from September 2026 (session 2026/2027) - sign up to hear when applications open

Complete the form with your email details

Postgraduate Admissions Policy for session 2026/2027

Postgraduate applicants can APPLY for accommodation when:

You have received an offer of study from the University of Glasgow for Academic Year 2026-2027 AND You have accepted this offer.

Please note it can take up to 72 hours for your details to import to the accommodation system once you have accepted an offer of study.

Some students will be eligible for the International Postgraduate Taught Student Guarantee which guarantees an offer of accommodation if applicants meet specified conditions and deadlines.

International Postgraduate Taught Student Guarantee

You will be guaranteed an offer of accommodation if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are a Postgraduate Taught offer holder who is new to study at the University of Glasgow for September 2026 entry and does not require family/partner accommodation; and
  • Your online accommodation application is received by 14 July 2026; and
  • Your fee status is confirmed as International/EU; and
  • You are applying for accommodation for a full academic session at the University of Glasgow (i.e. September to June, September to September or January to January); and
  • You have met your conditions of study as outlined in your offer letter by 31 August 2026.

Offer Withdrawal and Student Responsibility

Your Offer of Accommodation is conditional upon you maintaining a valid, accepted offer of study.

It is the student's personal and mandatory responsibility to notify Accommodation Services immediately and in writing if, for any reason:

  1. Your offer of study is formally withdrawn by the University (e.g. failure to meet entry requirements, visa issues or internal cancellation).
  2. You decide to decline your acadaemic offer or defer your entry to a later session.

Do not assume Accommodation Services will automatically remove your Offer of Accommodation for you. Your accommodation contract remains active until we receive formal, written notification from you by email.

If you have accepted your Accommodation Offer but fail to achieve all your academic offer conditions by 31 August 2026 deadline, or if you fail to notify us of a withdrawal, the University reserves the right to proceed with the cancellation of your room after this date. Failure to meet the academic conditions or to provide the required notification will result in the forfeiture of your Prepayment and may leave you liable for the full cost of the accommodation for the contract period.

Accommodation for Non-Guaranteed Applicants (Home/Rest of UK PGT/PGR)

While we cannot guarantee an offer of accommodation, we strongly encourage you to apply. Rooms may become available as the application process proceeds, and priority will always be given to applications received first and to those meeting the necessary conditions.

Family / Partner Accommodation

The University has only a limited number of flats available to students with families or partners. As a consequence, they are in high demand and cannot be guaranteed to those requesting them. Family accommodation will be allocated on a first come, first served basis to eligible applicants. The Students Representative Council's Advice Centre (SRC) can offer guidance for searching in the private sector.

Note- All communication relating to accommodation will be by email.

Date of publication 8 January 2026. Please note this policy is subject to review and may be updated during the application period.
