Shona's thesis, ‘Remaking the World in the Image of the Queer’: Rethinking ‘normative’ motherhood, explores the queer utopian possibilities within literary representations of motherhood in autofictional texts. Drawing on queer theory and motherhood studies, this thesis will engage with texts such as The Unfamiliar by Kirsty Logan, Matrescence by Lucy Jones, Rachel Cusk’s Outline trilogy, The Argonauts by Maggie Nelson, Sister Outsider by Audre Lorde and Breasts and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami.
