Research title: Engineering for Health: Using Qualitative Methods to Inform Water Access Design for Schistosomiasis Control

Research summary

I am a PhD student that joined the Lamberton Lab in April 2021. My background is in Chemical Engineering in which I gained an MEng from the University of Manchester. I now aim to use my engineering experience to combat Schistosoma mansoni by designing a locally viable water filtration system. Providing safe water can reduce exposure to cercariae and through my research, I aim to investigate the infection rate after implementing safe water for drinking and domestic use while considering social and economic factors.

I am very interested in entering the Neglected Tropical Diseases field and the interdisciplinary aspects of the project and hope to learn more from everyone in the group.
