Art and Law in Migration: Art practices for social change and access to Justice
Current research
My research focuses on how art practices are and can be used for creating social change in migration. To understand how different organisations, law practitioners and artists are working on the theme of migration; understand, use, impacted and want to change the law. A particular focus is on deepening understandings of and connections between access to justice, law, rights, dignity, social change and arts in migration. Focusing:
- What is Justice?
- What does change mean?
- How can art practices contribute to social change?
The connection between law, change, justice and theatre is more apparant with the recent immigration law changes, such as the Nationality and Borders Act 2022, Illegal Migration Act 2023 and the Rwanda Act 2024.
My research further looks at the connection between International Legal Framework on Migration in connection to protection.
