Research title: 'Comparing Working-Class Cultural Responses to Deindustrialisation in Glasgow and Leipzig'

Research Summary

I am a postgraduate researcher interested in hauntology, deindustrialisation and spatial-visual cultures. I completed both my undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at University of Glasgow, the former thesis applying a hauntological lens to public housing demolitions in post-industrial Glasgow, and the latter exploring the spatial and visual cultures of deindustrialisation in Port Glasgow through urban exploration media and walking methodologies. My PhD thesis will explore cultural responses to deindustrialsiation in Glasgow and Leipzig, collating literary and visual materials, as well as exploring social, artistic, youth and subcultural movement responses within the seismic political and economic transitions of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
