Research title: Alternative Nationalisms and Immigration: A Comparative Study of Scotland and Catalonia

Research summary

My PhD is funded by the UK Economic and Social Research Council through the Scottish Graduate School of Social Sciences. My project explores how Scottish and Catalan expressions of nationalism shape public perceptions of immigration and belonging. My comparative case study adopts a mixed-methods design, combining quantitative analysis of public opinion with qualitative approaches, including discourse analysis of political speeches and policy documents, along with semi-structured interviews and focus groups with members of the public.
