University of Glasgow places 80th in QS World University Rankings 2027

Glasgow holds firm within the global top 100, among more than 1,500 universities.
The University of Glasgow has secured 80th place globally among 1,504 institutions in the QS World University Rankings 2027.
These results mean the University of Glasgow places 13th in the United Kingdom and 26th in Europe.
The result reflects the University’s sustained global competitiveness in a fast-evolving higher education landscape.
Glasgow ranked in the top 5% of universities worldwide in three key indicators: Academic Reputation, International Research Network and Sustainability.
Academic Reputation, the most heavily weighted metric at 30%, measures the views of global academics, underlining the University’s standing among international peers.
The University of Glasgow placed within the top 10% worldwide in six of the nine indicators used by the QS, reflecting both global reach and graduate outcomes.
The strong overall performance aligns with consistent results across recent global rankings and subject-level assessments, demonstrating Glasgow’s continued strength across both research impact and international reputation.
