Eight out of 11 subject areas from the University of Glasgow in world top 100 in the THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026.

Two subjects, Psychology (41st) and Medical & Health (48th), rank in the world top 50. Overall, nine subject areas improved from the 2025 results.

The THE World University Rankings by Subject 2026 assess universities across 11 subject groups, using the same 18 performance indicators as the overall World University Rankings 2026. These indicators are organised under five pillars: Teaching, Research Environment, Research Quality, Industry, and International Outlook.

Professor Andy Schofield, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, said: “These are very pleasing results that highlight both the strength and breadth of research and teaching at the University of Glasgow.
