Jim Wight, son of Alf Wight – who was better known by his pen-name James Herriot – will deliver a lecture in the Kelvin Gallery on Wednesday 18 January where he will talk about his father, his own time at the University and how the veterinary profession has changed over the years.

The Glasgow Vet School was established in 1862 by James McCall and became part of the University in 1949 with the first students graduating in 1954.

James Herriot is one of the Vet School’s most famous alumni and his books have sold millions around the world.

To mark the 150th anniversary a series of events will take place, including a special exhibition at the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, a Doors Open Day, and public lectures, as well as special Continuing Professional Development opportunities for vets.

In a special interview with the University, Jim gives an insight into the life of arguably the world’s most cherished vet.
