University hosts Malaysian government delegation

Professor Raduan Che’ Rose, Special Adviser to the Minister for Higher Education in Malaysia, visited Glasgow recently to open the inaugural Malaysian International Doctoral Colloquium.

Professor Raduan Che’ Rose, Special Adviser to the Minister for Higher Education in Malaysia, visited Glasgow recently to open the inaugural Malaysian International Doctoral Colloquium held at the SECC on the 21-22 January.

The colloquium brought together over 60 Malaysian PhD students from across the UK and was organised by the Malaysia- Glasgow Community and supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia and the Malaysian Student Department in the UK. Professor Rosman with Prof Andrea Nolan (centre)

The University of Glasgow along with Strathclyde and Glasgow Caledonian Universities supported the event and Professor Frank Coton, Vice Principal for Learning and Teaching, gave the keynote address on Thursday 22 January.

Various academics including Professor William Cushley, Professor John Cooper, Professor Richard De La Rue, Dr Nigel Johnson and Margaret Sutherland chaired research sessions and contributed to the two-day programme.

Professor Raduan Che’ Rose and Professor Rosman, Director of the Malaysian Student Department in the UK, visited the University to meet with representatives of the Faculties of Biomedical & Life Sciences, Engineering and Medicine to explore opportunities for collaboration in research and teaching between Glasgow University and Malaysian universities.
