University welcomes Archbishop and Moderator

The Most Reverend Mario Conti, the Catholic Archbishop of Glasgow, will visit the University Chapel on Sunday 8 February.

The Most Reverend Mario Conti, the Catholic Archbishop of Glasgow, will visit the University Chapel on Sunday 8 February.

The Archbishop will give his annual sermon at the Sunday Service which begins at 11am. Also taking part will be the Reverend Stuart MacQuarrie, Chaplain to the University and Father John Keenan, Catholic Chaplain to the University.

The renowned Chaplain Choir, with James Grossmith, director of Chapel Music, and Kevin Bowyer, University Organist, will provide music.

The Offering will be donated to the Beatson Pebble Appeal and the Principal will present a cheque for £250 to the Archbishop in support of the St Nicholas Care Trust.

The following Sunday 15 February, the University will welcome the Right Reverend David Lunan, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and a graduate in Divinity from the University.

Mr Lunan served for a number of years in youth work in the east end of Glasgow before becoming a parish minister in Llanbryde, Morayshire and then Renfield St Stephen’s Glasgow. He then served as Presbytery Clerk in Glasgow prior to being elected Moderator.

He will be presented with a cheque for £250 from the Offering of the Chapel congregation to support the work of the Church of Scotland HIV/AIDS project.
