Glasgow has been rated the best campus in Scotland and 3rd in the UK for overall student experience.

Thousands of students across the UK have rated their universities on everything from teaching quality to social life in a new Times Higher Education Supplement league table revealing which universities offer the best all-round student experience.

Only Loughborough and Cambridge Universities  (1st and 2nd respectively) achieved higher ratings than the University of Glasgow from their students.

Mhari Wilson, president of Glasgow's Students' Representative Council, told the THES:

"I am not surprised Glasgow scored highly. There is so much to do on campus and over 90 clubs and societies. I think students recognise that extracurricular activities are not just about what you get out of it but are good for your CV. There is a strong sense of community here - it is a really positive place to be."

Earlier this year, the University of Glasgow was named Scottish University of the Year by the Sunday Times newspaper.

The Scottish Universities rated in the top 50 in the UK for student experience were as follows:

3 - Glasgow
5 - St. Andrews
8 - Dundee
20 - Stirling
32 - Edinburgh
33 - Strathclyde
40 - Aberdeen
49 - Caledonian
