Over 90 brave volunteers abseiled 177ft off the University Tower recently, raising over ?11,000 for the Leukaemia Research Fund Centre.

The sponsored abseil from the 177ft University Bell Tower made another appearance in the Development & Alumni Office's Calendar of Events this year but this time in support of the Leukaemia Research Fund Centre. The University is working with the Leukaemia Research Fund to provide the new Centre in the heart of Glasgow's medical community.

On Sunday 12th October over 90 brave participants raised more than £11,000, with promises of more donations to come. Among the participants was Fiona Duncan from Lanark who managed to raise a staggering £1,011. Advisory Board member and Head of the Division of Cancer Sciences and Molecular Pathology, Professor Barry Gusterson, also took up the challenge and successfully completed the abseil, as did Dr Gary Sibbet who is based at CR-UK Beatson Laboratories.

The Development and Alumni Office wish to thank of all those who supported the event and made it such a success ヨ both abseilers and volunteers. To make a donation to the appeal, or to add your name to the mailing list for next year, please contact the Development and Alumni Office on 0141 330 4951 or email: campaign@gla.ac.uk
