Published: 31 January 2003

The University's Centre for Cultural Policy Research is presenting a half-day Public Seminar on 'Cultural Tourism: Selling Scotland's Culture Abroad'

The seminar will address the topic of 'Cultural Tourism: Selling Scotland's Culture Abroad', focusing on the range of images, organisations, institutions and events used to promote Scotland abroad, and challenging the easy assumptions about the marketability of the Scottish experience.

Leading the seminar are -

* Neil Butler, managing director, UZ Events

* Dr Alan Riach, poet, critic and head of the Department of Scottish Literature, University of Glasgow

* Susan Stewart, First Secretary, Scottish Affairs, British Embassy, Washington

CCPR seminars take an informal and discursive approach, led by three speakers who will introduce the topic. Delegates then have the opportunity to engage with the issues raised and work together in a structured discussion session to analyse the relevant themes.

There is no charge for this event and places will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. To register, please access the online booking form at www.culturalpolicy.arts.gla.ac.uk or contact Nicola Sneddon - N.Sneddon@arts.gla.ac.uk - or telephone 0141 330 3806. Note that registration is required.
