Evolution of the Earth's Surface

This two-day conference is organised by staff of the Division of Earth Sciences and SUERC, and sponsored by the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Ireland.

A two-day conference entitled "Evolution of the Earth's Surface" is being held next week (15 & 16 April 2003) in the Boyd Orr building. The conference is sponsored by the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Ireland. Local organisers are staff within the Division of Earth Sciences and SUERC.

The meeting will focus on applications of new techniques for quantifying the mechanisms and rates of breakdown of rocks and minerals at the earth's surface and the implications of these processes for the development of the landscape and climate of our planet.

The main conference presentation, entitled "The origin of the Earth", will be given at 11.40am on Tuesday 15 April by Professor Alex Halliday, Zurich.
