"Chipper" Neil cracks the Jura mountains

Published: 15 May 2001

Prof Neil Garrod completed a landmark stage of his epic 1,500 mile run by successfully crossing the Jura mountains.

Speaking from France yesterday, a fit and positive Neil said," I'm feeling very chipper - I've ticked off Italy, I've ticked off the Alps, I've ticked off the Jura Mountains, and now on into France."

Prof Garrod still has a long way to go, and the next landmark stage will be a triumphal entry into Paris, culminating in a run up the Champs Elysees to the Arc de Triomphe.

The University community wishes him well, as the number of hits on his website testifies. You can track his progress and send messages of support at www.mega-run.gla.ac.uk
