To mark the University's 550th anniversary, a new online virtual exhibition highlighting 50 treasures from the Library's rich collections may be found on the Special Collections exhibitions pages: http://special.lib.gla.ac.uk/exhibns/treasures/index.html.

Featuring items which were created over a timespan of two millennia - from a third century papyrus fragment to a poem written by Edwin Morgan in 1978 - the selection embraces a wide range of book production techniques and materials, from manuscript to photography, and from parchment to paper.

Each item is described briefly and accompanied by images, and the entries can be searched either chronologically or by subject and format. We hope that the choice indicates something of the great variety and significance of the material held on Level 12 of the Library.

Don't forget also the regular Special Collections 'Book of the Month' feature. For 101 eccentric uses for a kite, see: http://special.lib.gla.ac.uk/exhibns/month/mar2001.html
