Healthy women volunteers wanted - walking and appetite

Published: 6 December 2001

Dept of Human Nutrition is investigating how gentle exercise in the form of walking can improve appetite control - interested?

Research in relation to physical activity and appetite regulation is being conducted in the Department of Human Nutrition, investigating how gentle exercise in the form of walking can improve appetite control.

We are looking for volunteers to participate in this study. Volunteers will be asked to visit the laboratory on 3 different occasions for 4 hours in the afternoon to evening. Transport costs will be provided to volunteers. Additionally volunteers will be offered the amount of £20 when visits are completed to compensate for any costs incurred.

If you are a woman aged 40-65 years, normal-weight, you have never been obese, you are not having present or past weight problems, you do not exercising regularly, and are not smoking and not taking any medication, you will be an ideal volunteer.

In return for participating in the study, you will receive information about diet, body composition and metabolic profile (e.g. glucose, insulin, leptin, free fatty acids etc). You will have the opportunity to learn a little, and contribute to human appetite research, where more understanding is needed for the treatment of obesity and obesity-related diseases.
