What do I do?
I currently manage a team of software developers who create the magic behind systems like the UofG Life student app and the Student Portal. I used to work in a Library, but quickly moved from books and into technology. In my first job at WWF (the environmental people, not the wrestlers!) I was asked to run training courses on how to use the internet (yes, I am that old!)
What do you enjoy most about supporting the UofG Life App?
I’m passionate about making software products that are useful and easy to use. I love being part of our fabulous team and having the chance to talk to staff and students all over the University.
What have you seen as the biggest advances in app technology, and what is your favourite app?
Apps have become smaller in terms of storage space (meaning you can cram more on your phone!); they use more data to give you a personalised experience (although I try not to give away too much personal info); and the designs are generally more fun! I love Spotify, especially the geeky 'wrap' of all my listening stats at the end of the year.
