Introduction to Student Life
Living Support and Peer Wellbeing Support came together in December 2019 to form the Student Life Service which sits within Student and Academic Services.
The two services combined provide essential listening and signposting services to students across the University's Schools and Colleges.
Living Support specifically dedicates its time too those students living in halls of residence and the Peer Wellbeing Support Service is accessible to all students across the University.
In the Student Life service, we recognize the power and impact of peer support. Within the University of Glasgow, we have a skilled and compassionate student population. The role of Student Life is to support those interested student volunteers who want to become involved in our work to nurture and grow their natural capacity to listen, support and respond to their peers through training, support and development activities tailored specifically to the roles they fulfil.
In addition to the services we offer to the wider student population, for the students who volunteer or work within the Student Life Service we offer personal, professional and social opportunities through their participation and engagement with a full Student Life program of training and events opportunities.
Our student team consists of 70+ Living Support Assistants who support students to settle into life in halls and work across our 8 halls of residence locations and our 90+ Peer Wellbeing Supporters who offer an inclusive University wide listening service.
Our Staff team includes a Residential life team (wardens and managers and dedicated Student Support officer for halls) our fully qualified Counsellor Trainer team who provides training, support and development to our student team, our Student Life and engagement officer, Events Coordinator, Living Support co-ordinator and the Student Life Manager.
Each year we continue to grow, learn, and develop our approach and understanding of how best to support and work in partnership with students who access the Student Life Service.
