Team UofG Together

Team UofG Together is part of the Community and Inclusion project, one of 13 initiatives that comprise the Student Experience Strategy. The project is deisgned to improve students' sense of inclusion and belonging at the university—ensuring that everyone feels a part of the UofG community.

There are four main types of activity being delivered through Team UofG Together:

  • Team UofG Together Events
  • Team UofG Together Internships
  • Team UofG Together: Community Connections
  • Team UofG Together: Staff Networks

You can learn more about these activities below. If you'd like to have your say about how the University can support student community and the wider student experience, you can provide feedback here.

Team UofG Together: Events

During term time, Team UofG Together runs bi-weekly Community Cafes providing students with free lunch and fun activities on the Gilmorehill campus. Students can come along to play giant sized games (4ft Connect Four and so much more!), meet other students, and learn about the support and opportunities available to UofG students. Each year we take the Community Cafe on the go to visit our students on the beautiful Dumfries and Garscube campuses.

During revision week, supported by the UofG Shop's Mental Health Awareness campign, we host a Late Night Breakfast in the University Library Cafe, providing students with a warm filled roll and a relaxing space to take a break from their revisions.

Over the summer we celebrate our postgraduate student cohort with the Postgrad Summer Programme. Whether you're a PhD student in need of a break after your annual progress report or a PGT student in the middle of completing your dissertation, we'll have an event for you. Connect with other students, step out to explore some more of the city, or take a movement break to play frisbee out front of the Gilbert Scott building!

All Team UofG Together Events can be found in the UofG Life App in the events listings. Filter by "Social Events" to see all the activities that are live now!

Team UofG Together: Internships

The Team UofG Together Internship Fund is available to support staff-student partnership projects that focus on delivering or enhancing community-building initiatives in local University areas. Current projects from the Team UofG Together Internship Fund have included pilots for an international student buddying scheme, design and delivery of a yearlong programme of school-related social activity, and a neurodiversity support group, among many others. Funding has been confirmed to cover over 5,000 hours of student internships for these projects.

Round 1 of the internship fund was awarded in December 2024 and Round 2 will be awarded in July 2025. All internships that are currently open for applications from students will be listed on the Student Opportunities Hub.

Team UofG Together: Community Connections

Community Connections is an inititive led by Team UofG Together to improve the information students are receiving about social opportunities and student-led activity at UofG. Working with staff from key teams across the University, Community Connections delivers trainings and supports staff to learn about the social opportunities available to students and ensures that every student is supported to find their community on campus.

The Community Connections project is currently in development. If you have any feedback about your experience finding social opportunities on campus, we would love to hear from you!
